Earlier this year the UK signed a technology trade deal with the US during Donald Trump’s state visit here.
However the President has now ordered that the multi-billion-dollar deal around artificial intelligence, quantum computing and civil nuclear energy be suspended, according to a report in the Financial Times.
The FT said British officials have confirmed the US suspended the deal last week, as Trump’s administration wants concessions in other areas of trade – namely non-tariff barriers, including rules and regulations governing food and industrial goods.
