Solivus create light-weight solar solutions for large commercial buildings such as warehouses and sports stadiums where conventional solar can’t be used due to weight or application restrictions.
Solivus also create innovative ground mounted solar products such as lightweight solar car ports and the Solivus Arc – a solar sculpture designed to be a low carbon and aesthetically pleasing alternative to roof panels.
By pioneering these sustainable products Solivus are aiming to:
- Be pivotal in reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources,
- Make cost-efficient energy generation and storage available to many
- Facilitate a quicker transition to more energy efficient vehicles powered with renewable energy
- Trade excess renewable energy to others to create a cleaner environment for everyone.
The beginnings
Around five years ago Solivus CEO Jo Parker-Swift began the challenge of creating a new clean solar energy product that would power her home and electric car and deliver an alternative to roof mounted solar panels. This product was the Solivus Arc (prototype shown below).
During the early stages of extensive research and development it became apparent to Jo that the new lightweight solar technologies she was discovering had a much larger potential than just powering homes and could indeed have a huge impact on decarbonising the built environment – one of the largest contributors to climate change and something she was passionate about.
Research showed that in the United Kingdom alone there was enough empty roof space on large scale commercial buildings to provide the country with a vast amount of renewable clean energy. In fact if 50% of the current roof spaces were covered in solar they would provide enough electricity for half the UK’s energy needs. And so with this in mind Jo set her sights on a much larger goal – one that could really make a difference to the future of the planet, and so Solivus was born.
The Solivus journey
Solivus are now a team of twenty passionate and sustainability focused individuals from a range of disciplines, with an experienced senior leadership team.
Solivus have designed a range of complete rooftop solar solutions that are help business de-carbonise and save money. Solivus take the projects from initial consultation through to design and installation and also offer maintenance and finance packages.
Due to this Solivus have received external recognition including inclusion in Tech Nation’s Net Zero cohort of most exciting and innovative climate tech scale ups, JP Morgan’s Top 200 Female Powered Businesses and were invited to join the UK governments London & Partners programme which helps promote UK business’ at home and internationally.
Solivus now have a roster of blue-chip clients which include private airports, sports stadiums and the leading international infrastructure group Balfour Beaty. With several successful projects completed already this year the pipeline of opportunities continues to grow and Solivus are now set to scale.
Alongside the rooftop systems Solivus are continuing to develop their ground mounted products. These are being designed – like their roofing solutions – with an emphasis on aesthetics. The Solivus Arc and solar carports are the flagship products which aim to provide homeowners and businesses alike a way to create their own off grid sustainable energy.
The Future
Solivus are aiming to scale quickly with a view to having an immediate impact on de-carbonising the built environment and helping to mitigate climate change.
Solivus HQ is currently in Sustainable Ventures in London’s county hall, right behind the London Eye and the opposite side of the River Thames to the Houses of Parliament. Sustainable Ventures is Europe’s largest ecosystem of sustainable businesses.
From this HQ Solivus are planning to expand internationally over the next two years to bring their brand of innovative solar solutions to the world.
