Smart contract blockchain platform Ethereum was the standout performer among the world’s top cryptocurrency coins in the last 24 hours.
The second most valuable crypto grew 5% for a second consecutive day, to just below $3,850 at the time of writing (7am UK).
It is 7% higher than its price last Friday and closing on its all-time record high of around $4,200.
Market leader Bitcoin is closing on £59,000 thanks to a 3% increase, moving it ever closer to its record price of more than $64k. It is 10% up in a week.
Polkadot, which surged from Wednesday into Thursday following announcements over its parachain auction process – where projects are allocated slots for building on the network – was down slightly in the last 24 hours to $41.21. However it remains 21% up in a week.
Solana (SOL) was up 3% to $155, with its seven-day price static, while Cardano (ADA) climbed 2% to $2.21, down 2% in a week.
Ripple’s XRP remained at $1.14 after a slight increase, 7% higher than a week ago.

Binance Coin followed two days of big gains with a slight fall.
The crypto created by popular exchange Binance – which supports more than 1.4 million transactions per second – aims to become the infrastructure services provider for the entire blockchain ecosystem.
Its BNB token is at $469 and 8% up over seven days.
Meme coin DOGE remained static at 23.5 cents, which puts it 4% down over seven days.
The overall market cap of the more than 12,700 coins is at $2.45 trillion, a 2.7% increase in the last 24 hours.
