A 17-year-old Welsh entrepreneur has launched an app which aims to ensure Londoners never miss their Tube stop again.
‘Doze’ alerts London Underground passengers when they have reached their designated station.
Dafydd Jones built the mobile app, which taps into the Wi-Fi hotspots available at every station to pinpoint location, after his brother fell asleep on his way home and had to shell out £60 for a taxi.
It is available for free on the iOS App Store for iPhones, while an Android version is planned for launch in 2018.
“I genuinely believe Doze could help thousands of commuters and tourists who want to relax on their journey, without the stress of potentially missing their stop,” Jones said at a launch event at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden.
Based at NatWest’s business accelerator Entrepreneurial Spark in Cardiff, Jones has been speaking with potential investors as he plans to expand the Doze concept to New York and Paris.
He worked closely with Transport for London on Doze.
“Now the app has officially launched, I’ll continue discussions with potential investors and work to expand Doze into overseas markets that I believe would benefit from its concept and ensure that Doze provides the best public transport experience for its users,” he added.
“I’m also using my experiences up to this point to help other young entrepreneurs, speaking at events focused on the tech sector and also engaging with other entrepreneurs to spread the message that anyone can follow their passion and fulfil their potential, even if you’re only 17.”
