‘Digital revolution is good for our physical health’

The CEO of an IT software firm says the digital revolution is enabling more people to live healthy lifestyles as they can base themselves in the countryside.

Chris Houghton founded Bolton-based Eventura 15 years ago and has worked for several blue chip companies around the world.

Ahead of our breakfast event ‘Digital Bolton – a hidden gem’ he said the town now has sufficiently good broadband connections.

“The digital revolution will make us all entrepreneurs of our own personal 10Gb communications bubble,” he told BusinessCloud.

“Being able to do work in space, with time out to walk in the fresh air in a safe, green environment, is valuable.

“Bolton has encouraged micro offices and a ‘working from home’ culture. I still believe that we need to embrace more innovation in the use of digital technology use within the town, but that will come in time.”

BusinessCloud has teamed up with the University Of Bolton; Bolton Council, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Business Growth Hub and a number of leading businesses across the borough to find out how they’ve embraced the digital revolution.

We’ll also be hearing from a panel of experts about the skills gap and the role that apprentices can play.

“An apprentice is an unused sponge. He or she will question everything, absorb everything and challenge the status quo. In the digital world, we like that,” said Houghton.
