Digital Catapult has appointed Jonathan Tudor as CEO.
He takes on the role from David Bletso, who has served as interim CEO since April and will resume his role as CFO.
Digital Catapult is a research and technology organisation for frontier digital technologies. It is uniquely positioned as a trusted partner across the UK innovation ecosystem and directly supports the UK Government’s Digital and Technologies Sector Plan.
Digital Catapult’s R&D programmes represent national digital innovation infrastructure that can be utilised by commercial businesses.
Tudor brings broad experience in the creation, commercialisation and funding of science and technology, most recently as an investment partner at the Clean Growth Fund.
Before that, he was the technology & innovation strategy director at Centrica, a managing director at BP Ventures and ventures director at QinetiQ.
“Jonathan’s breadth of experience across DeepTech as a scientist, large cap technology strategist, startup founder and technology investor make him ideally placed to lead the next phase of Digital Catapult’s growth and development,” said Ben Story, chair.
“I would like to thank David Bletso. Under David’s leadership, Digital Catapult has continued to perform strongly while building the foundations for an ambitious new five-year plan. I am delighted that David will continue as our CFO.”
Tom Adeyoola, executive chair of Innovate UK, said: “Innovate UK helps breakthrough technologies become scalable businesses. Our Catapults play a key role by combining specialist facilities, capabilities and expertise.
“I look forward to working with the new CEO of Digital Catapult in turning the UK’s world-class digital innovation into commercial and economic growth.”
Tudor said: “I am excited to join Digital Catapult as it transitions to an ambitious new five-year plan. I am looking forward to leading the expansion of Digital Catapult’s collaborative R&D programmes and accelerating our core mission to help more new digital businesses start and scale rapidly in the UK.”
