PCMIS Health Technologies Ltd, in partnership with NHS England has officially launched a new Infected Blood Psychological Service (IBPS) digital pathway to facilitate dedicated psychological support to those infected or affected by the national infected blood scandal.

The new digital pathway, now live across England, is part of the Infected Blood Psychological Service, which delivers specialised, trauma-informed psychological and psychosocial care on behalf of the NHS. It ensures that anyone infected or affected, regardless of location, can securely self-refer online and access the support they need through a streamlined, secure digital pathway. PCMIS has been implemented as a standalone system to enhance the confidentiality provided to infected or affected people.

The launch represents a significant national undertaking, involving the coordination of multiple NHS services, specialist psychological care teams, and clinical safety officers. PCMIS Health Technologies Ltd played a key role in the end-to-end delivery of the digital pathway – from development to implementation and support.

PCMIS – innovative, evidence-based case management tools for mental health

The project included:

  • Nationwide integration with NHS England
  • Development of a custom self-referral portal to allow any people infected or affected to access quick support directly
  • Secure clinical case management system, enabling efficient referral processing and reporting across regions and local providers
  • Collaborating with NHS clinicians, and policy teams to ensure the service meets real-world needs

“Implementing IBPS within the NHS marks a significant step forward in our expertise to deliver large-scale integrated care with a smarter more connected service across the entire care pathway. Our team worked closely with NHS England to deliver a solution that is secure, flexible, and responsive. The technology isn’t just about efficiency; it’s about supporting NHS trusts at a national level to ensure every person receives the timely support they deserve,” said Byron George, CEO of PCMIS Health Technologies Ltd.

The service addresses a long-standing gap in access to psychological care for people infected or  affected by the contaminated blood scandal, a national tragedy that continues to impact thousands across the UK.

With the new pathway now live, people can refer themselves for IBPS services using a new online referral form and begin receiving tailored psychosocial support from specialist Navigators at regional providers and specialist psychological support from 16 local providers across England. As part of a phased implementation the next step is to adopt the PCMIS client portal, to provide the opportunity to complete routine outcome measures ahead of appointments, as well as access to the Choose & Book feature, empowering those accessing the service and freeing up contact time.
