London-based MOTH has unveiled the world’s first commercially available music track created using quantum-powered generative AI.

The firm says that the breakthrough signals the arrival of quantum computing into the hands of everyday creatives and consumers.

The track, titled RECURSE, is the result of a collaboration between MOTH and acclaimed electronic artist ILĀ, and marks a major step towards the availability of real-world, consumer-facing applications of quantum.

MOTH’s proprietary platform Archaeo blends the creative capabilities of generative AI with the power of quantum machine learning.

It has already been applied to gaming, with MOTH generating Super Mario Bros levels using the same generative quantum technology that powers RECURSE.

RECURSE will launch on all major streaming platforms on May 2, and will also be showcased online via a 24/7 interactive stream.
