The brightest and best tech firms in Liverpool City Region are being invited to enter the third LCR Tech Climbers.
Tech Climbers is an annual list which showcases the top performing product-led technology businesses in the region and aims to put the area on the map as an investable, global tech destination.
After a successful launch in Leeds City Region earlier this year, Tech Climbers has returned to Liverpool, where it was first launched in 2019.
Submissions for inclusion in the 2023 list are now open following a launch event last week at the Brett Building, University of Liverpool, which brought together a stellar line up of investors and business leaders who have themselves raised investment.
The event had over 120 registrations from business leaders from across Liverpool City Region and beyond and was hosted by BusinessCloud executive editor Chris Maguire.
Speakers included investment experts Lorna Green, CEO, LYVA Labs; Andy Critchley, investment director, Arete Capital Partners; Daniel Hayhurst, legal director, Brabners; Adam Baron, director, Growth Advisory, BDO; and Rupert Wingate-Saul, AXM Capital .
A number of tech businesses shared their investment stories including Liz Ashall-Payne, founder and CEO, ORCHA; Glenn Cooper, chairman, Inovus Medical; Kirk Ryan, co-founder and director, Flare; and Steven Tallant, CEO, Videosign.
Anna Heyes, CEO at Active Profile and Tech Climbers founder said: “Tech Climbers is an exciting collaboration, showcasing one of the biggest drivers of our local economies – technology. We profile the ambitious people behind the products, teams and technology and create a view of regional growth year on year.
“We’re so excited to be back in Liverpool for the third time, championing the region’s unique tech clusters. We’re looking forward to once again celebrating the best tech businesses that the region has to offer.”
BusinessCloud’s executive editor, Chris Maguire, who hosted the launch event, said: “There’s a real buzz in Liverpool’s tech sector and it’s attracting a lot of attention from outside the area.
“It’s great to be able to track the progress of some of companies that have appeared on the previous Tech Climbers lists in 2019 and 2021 and we’re confident this will be the biggest and best one yet.”
Companies included in the Tech Climbers list will be published online by BusinessCloud.
Tech Climbers is sponsored by Avison Young, BDO, Brabners and Marks & Clerk, with associate partners, Gather, Growth Platform, InnovateHer, LCR Connect, LYVA Labs, Startup Grind, STFC Digital Cluster, Tech Nation and Zut.
University of Liverpool Management School hosted the launch event.
Tech businesses from Halton, Knowsley, Sefton, St. Helens, Liverpool and Wirral are invited to submit themselves for the 2023 list online, and for the first time ever, you can now nominate businesses worthy of becoming a Tech Climber.
A judging panel of influential advisors and brands, including executives from Brabners, Marks and Clerk, Avison Young, BDO, and Tech Nation will create the final list of successful businesses who have demonstrated significant operations in the Liverpool City Region and evidence their impact, innovation and investment potential.
Previously celebrated businesses included Parentapps, a school communication service, and FinTech company CIRCA5000 – an investment platform.
There is also a ones-to-watch list of up-and-coming businesses that are active in the region and look set for a bright future.
