Air purification company Radic8 has successfully funded a personal oxygen purifier which delivers concentrated oxygen through a phone-style headset.
The campaign was launched by the Manchester-based company on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo. It received 169 per cent of its goal within the first two days.
INBair O2 is a non-medical unit which is designed to combat tiredness in the workplace and increase productivity.
The company believes that the INBair O2 can battle the ‘afternoon slump’ in office buildings, which its CEO say is caused by reduced oxygen levels.
“Everyone is using up oxygen, and breathing out carbon dioxide. As the afternoon progresses, we experience that ‘slump’ and it’s actually because we’re fighting for oxygen,” said CEO and designer Richard Greenwood.
The company believes that the positive side-effects of breathing purified oxygen could reduce the reliance on caffeine and the ‘jitteriness’ associated with drinking too much coffee.
Radic8 also claims that the product is more convenient than going for a walk or taking a nap because the device can be use whilst working.
“There’s so much going on right now that we can’t afford to lose an hour or so of productivity every afternoon. We designed this to help keep us sharp and get that competitive edge,” said 42-year-old Greenwood.
“It doesn’t look anything like a typical oxygen machine, and because it’s not a medical product, the price is a lot less too.”
