IT provider Renewtech has acquired Harrogate-based Intelligent Servers, bringing the refurbished IT specialist into its European group.
The deal lifts the Denmark-based firm’s overall business volume by around a quarter and strengthens its position in what it calls a key growth market for refurbished data centre hardware.
Intelligent Servers was founded in 2011 by managing director Andy Hughes and is known for supplying refurbished server, storage and networking kit, with a particular focus on HPE systems as well as Dell and Cisco equipment.
The company previously secured a £600,000 government-backed loan from the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund to support growth and job creation.
Renewtech meanwhile, provides re-used and refurbished IT hardware across Europe and has been expanding through acquisitions as demand rises for lower-carbon alternatives to new infrastructure.
“This acquisition is a natural next step in our growth journey,” said Bjarne Aarup, CEO of Renewtech.
“Intelligent Servers has built an outstanding reputation in the UK market and together we can deliver even greater value to our customers. Our mutual dedication to quality, customer focus, and integrity makes this a perfect match.
“We are increasing the volume of our business by roughly 25%, a strategic move that not only accelerates growth but also enhances our capacity to purchase and handle even larger takeouts from datacentres, ITAD and larger corporate customers.”
Hughes added: “Joining forces with Renewtech opens up new opportunities for Intelligent Servers and our customers.
“While we remain the same trusted team, we now have access to broader resources and capabilities that will allow us to serve our customers even better.”
Renewtech said Intelligent Servers will act as a platform for further UK growth, including potential bolt-on acquisitions, while customers should see continuity in service with access to a broader range of refurbished enterprise IT options.
