Leeds-based app development firm Pocketworks has announced the appointment of a new iOS developer.

Leeds native Alex Logan joins the firm from Surge in Newcastle upon Tyne, bringing with him more than two years’ experience in iPhone and iPad app development and a degree in Computer Science from Newcastle University.

Logan’s appointment follows four new hires in April of this year as it introduced a mobile strategy specialist, head of technology, senior iOS developer, and product owner.

The hires continue as the firm sets its course on £1m in annual revenue, having recently won new business in the construction, sport and hospitality sectors.

The firm’s work includes leading brands such as Asda, Travelodge, and Amber Cars.

“The city has an incredible atmosphere with so much going on and the tech scene is absolutely thriving so it’s the perfect time to come home,” Logan commented.

Managing director Tobin Harris, who founded the company is 2012, has previously called Yorkshire a burgeoning new tech hub.

“We’re really pleased to add Alex to our rapidly growing team,” Harris said.

“It’s vital we have a skilled and ambitious team to help us create apps that will work brilliantly for our customers and make their lives easier.

“Alex knows all about that and is a fantastic addition. With new business coming in all the time, I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next and growing the team even further!”

Pocketworks specialises in developing mobile apps for businesses to drive efficiency and grow sales, it has gone from strength to strength since its formation.
