The price of several leading cryptocurrencies dropped in the last 24 hours – but not Bitcoin.

At the time of writing (7am), Ethereum (ETH), which set a record price of $4,300 just last month, fell 2.5% to drop below $2,500 and is down more than 7% on last Friday morning.

Ripple’s XRP coin, which hit $1.91 recently, dipped 2% to less than 87 cents and is down 10% in a week.

Dogecoin (DOGE), the coin created as a crypto parody and based on a meme, is down more than 3% and heading back towards 32 cents. It is 15% below its valuation seven days ago.

Bitcoin bucked the trend: BTC is up almost 1% in 24 hours to close on $37,100 and its seven-day price is slightly higher despite the crypto crash at the start of the week which coincided with former US President Donald Trump labelling Bitcoin a “scam… competing against the dollar”.

The rise of DOGE to crypto’s top table

The biggest winner was Amp (AMP), which is up 27% in 24 hours and has seen its price double in a week, while Internet Computer (ICP) was the biggest loser as it dropped 17% of its value to sit 40% down on last Friday.
