North East tech comms firm Advantex is creating job opportunities after securing new contracts worth £2 million.

Ten new positions will be available after the Gateshead-based firm secured additional orders for its network infrastructure services from Hitachi Rail to support its UK network of train depots.

The firm, which provides IT, telecoms and security services to businesses, expects to see revenues for the 2018/19 year increase 27 per cent and intends to hire new roles including engineers and account managers.

Steve O’Connell, sales and marketing director at Advantex, said: “We have worked hard to secure significant growth, so achieving more than £2m in sales is great news.

“With that comes the opportunity to expand the company, bringing on more people to fill key roles across the business.”

Advantex, who recently installed state-of-the-art digital cameras at key locations across Newcastle International Airport, was recently named the ‘Most Innovative Solution of the Year’ at the AXIS Partner Showcase Awards.

The company has confirmed a deal with travel agency Hays Travel to provide its new Sunderland head office and other sites with an internet-based phone system.

They will also be working with property firm Northumberland Estates and golf course operator Rockliffe Hall.
