One of the stars of the latest series of The Apprentice has landed a role at Microsoft.

Emma Street made it to week eight of the hit BBC show before being fired by Lord Sugar.

Street, who dropped out of university at 19 after securing a prestigious apprenticeship at tech consultancy Capgemini, has started a new job as customer success account manager at Microsoft.

Sharing the news on LinkedIn she said: “It’s been a fantastic start already — from an engaging onboarding day in Paddington to a warm welcome at the Reading HQ where I had the chance to meet even more of the team.

From uni dropout to boss of £2.5m budget and The Apprentice star

“I’m really looking forward to working with our customers, helping them unlock value, and being part of such an inspiring organisation.

“Grateful for the opportunity and excited for what’s ahead!”

Street was one of the few candidates to appear on The Apprentice to come from a tech background and hopes her appearance on the show will inspire other women to pursue a career in tech.

Speaking to BusinessCloud last year she said: “Everything about this world has a tech element to it and I would love it if more women got into it, whether that be via the apprenticeship route like me or in another way.”

She joined Oxford Brookes University at the age of 18 to begin a business and marketing management course but left after landing one of just 15 apprenticeships at Capgemini after beating 4,000 applicants.

She joined the firm on a degree apprenticeship scheme in September 2019 and gained six promotions, ending up managing a budget of £2.5m

Street left Capgemini after beating 80,000 applicants to make the final 18 on The Apprentice to try and win Lord Sugar’s £250k investment for her health-focused coffee business idea.

Although she ended up getting fired in week eight her appearance on the show saw her Instagram following grow six-fold.

In other news, her fellow candidate Keir Shave has predicted his telemarketing company Parallel Partnerships will be at 80 staff by Q2.

The Leeds-based startup, which specialises in lead generation, has already recruited seven new starters this year.
