The Tech Partnership has been announced as The UK National Coalition in the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs at the European Digital Assembly 2015.

The Tech Partnership is a network of employees that aim to create the skills needed to grow the global digital economy.

The Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs was launched in 2013 to encourage young people to take up careers in technology and to provide up-to-date information on qualifications and training.

The UK National Coalition was announced alongside national partnerships in Belgium, Cyprus and the Netherlands, joining existing coalitions in Bulgaria, Greece, Italy Malta, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Romania.

CEO of UK and Ireland at Cisco and chair of the Tech Partnership Phil Smith said: “We are proud to represent the UK as part of the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs.

“We can offer our long-standing experience of confronting skills gaps and in return learn from successes in other countries. The Tech Partnership reflects the Grand Coalition’s priorities, not least in our common commitment to ensuring everyone with high potential – particularly women – can find a home for their talents in the tech sector.”

Andrus Anspi, vice president of the European Commission, who is in charge of the Digital Single Market said: “I am delighted The Tech Partnership has been endorsed as the National Coalition for the UK in support of the EU’s Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs.

“The UK has an excellent track record in anticipating digital skills needs and in designing solutions for skills development. I look forward to a strengthening of the Grand Coalition, to create digital jobs and underpin the Digital Single Market.”
