Tech cleaning company Xeros has won a 10-year contract with one of Europe’s major tanneries, Wollsdorf Leder Schmidt & Co.
Headquartered at the Advanced Manufacturing Park near Rotherham, the company will convert Wollsdorf’s re-tanning operations in Australia to Xeros’ polymer bead technology. The value of the contract has not been disclosed.
Wollsdorf is best known for producing and exporting premium quality leather to the luxury leather market, in particular to manufacturers of several prominent car brands.
“Our contract with Wollsdorf confirms that we have a viable technology for the tanning industry that can be incorporated simply into the production process,” said Mark Nichols, chief executive of Xeros.
“In partnership with our customers, we can radically improve sustainability whilst sharing in the value our innovative technology creates.
“The considerable interest we are witnessing from many significant players in the leather industry is a strong indication of the potential to rapidly increase the deployment of our technology in what is a global scale industry.”
To continue to place itself at the forefront of the leather tanning industry, Xeros is carrying out further scale trials with five other European tanneries that are currently either completed or are in progress.
In early 2017 Xeros acquired a Las Vegas-based PPE specialist and pushed forward with a partner agreement as part of an expansion into Australia.
