Dogecoin has rocketed an astonishing 57% in value in 24 hours ahead of Elon Musk’s guest hosting of Saturday Night Live.
The SpaceX and Tesla entrepreneur is a famous backer of DOGE. After hinting that he will promote DOGE on SNL, analysts say his promotion of the coin is driving up its value.
Originally created as a joke – and based on a meme – DOGE now has a market capitalisation of $88.5 billion, having added more than $30bn in 24 hours and climbed 160% in value in a week.

Another big mover is Litecoin. At the time of writing (7am), the altcoin and Bitcoin alternative is at $332, up 16% in 24 hours and 31% in a week.
The price of Ripple’s XRP coin has dropped almost 4% in 24 hours to $1.43, but remains up 5% on this time last week.
Bitcoin (BTC) is at $54,600 – down 2.6% in 24 hours and slightly up in the last seven days.
Ethereum (ETH), at $3,275, has dropped back 3.5% from yesterday but is up 25% on this time last Wednesday.
