Match of the Day host Gary Lineker has invested in connected home insurance start-up Neos.
Former England, Leicester, Everton, Spurs and Barcelona striker Lineker is among several investors who have raised £1m in seed funding.
Fellow investor Barry Smith, former chief executive of Ageas, is chairman of Neos.
“I’m delighted to have invested in and joined the talented and experienced Neos team at this very early stage,” said Smith.
“This is an exciting time for the home insurance market as we start to see new customer value propositions that embrace connected home technology.”
The London-based start-up was founded by CEO Matt Poll and CTO Krystian Zajac in 2015.
Neos combines Internet of Things technology, 24/7 monitoring and emergency assistance alongside home insurance from Hiscox. It plans to launch in early 2017.
The investment values Neos at £8.4 million.
