A Warrington-based fast-growing group of net zero solutions businesses has acquired carbon and sustainability consultancy Arete Zero Carbon.
The deal marks PNZ Group (Powering Net Zero) third acquisition and will enhance its ability to act as a comprehensive, end-to-end partner for organisations on the path to net zero.
Founded with investment from Liverpool-based private equity firm Arete Capital Partners, Arete Zero Carbon has helped businesses across the UK to measure, manage and reduce their carbon emissions across both their direct operations and wider value chains.
Under the leadership of zero carbon expert Dr Stephen Finnegan, the consultancy has worked with clients across multiple sectors, including HP, TD Synnex, Knauf, Grosvenor, Hill Dickinson and KFC.
Now operating as PNZ Advisory, the consultancy joins PNZ Carbon and PNZ Energy under the PNZ Group umbrella.
As businesses face increasing pressure to decarbonise, PNZ Advisory will focus on delivering strategies and plans to make an impact across both operations and value chains.
The PNZ Group now includes over 50 professionals across its advisory, energy, and carbon divisions and plans to scale its teams further over the next 12 months.
“Bringing Arete Zero Carbon into the PNZ Group fills a critical gap in our proposition,” said Martin Smith, CEO at PNZ Group. “Businesses need more than just technology or offsets – they need expert, strategic guidance to build and deliver credible decarbonisation plans.
“We now offer clients a complete solution that spans advice, action, and accountability. This is a major milestone in our mission to be the UK’s go-to net zero partner.”
Dr Stephen Finnegan, managing director at PNZ Advisory (formally Arete Zero Carbon), added: “Joining PNZ Group and becoming PNZ Advisory is a natural evolution in our mission to help businesses navigate their journey to net zero.
“With the combined expertise of PNZ Energy and PNZ Carbon, we can now offer clients a fully integrated solution, from strategy and advisory through to implementation and verified offsets – enabling us to deliver real, measurable climate impact at every stage.”
