Photobox Group, parent company of the Photobox and Moonpig brands, has opened a new state-of-the-art HQ in London.

The Herbal House site in Clerkenwell was once a Daily Mirror printworks and artists’ studios, and how now been transformed into a 37,000 sq ft office.

London-based design and build firm Oktra teamed up with Photobox Group to create an office that offers collaborative and agile ways of working to the company’s 400 employees.

The four-storey open-plan space will give workers a mix of flexible work, stand-up and collaboration spaces.

In a nod to the site’s roots, Photobox Group decided to showcase the exposed original concrete walls, pillars, ceilings of the building, with an original crane hanging over the reception.

However design and furnishings are modern and colourful and the colour-coded floors look down onto an industrial atrium events space which will be used for company-wide meetings and meet-ups open to the local tech and creative communities.

“Our new HQ directly reflects our ambition to deliver amazing experiences for our customers as well as our teams,” said Jody Ford, CEO of Photobox Group.

“Designing our new space around collaboration and agile working gives employees the freedom to innovate for our customers and have impact at scale for the business and for their careers.

“It’s also a new London venue where we hope to share, collaborate and learn with like-minded tech companies and talent.”

Dominic Dugan, senior designer at Oktra, said: “We worked with Photobox Group to create a workspace that embodies their company culture and ethos.

“It was important that the design supported various work styles and provided different places to retreat to, whilst enabling collaboration and the sharing of ideas.”

The entire fit-out of the new headquarters took 20 weeks to complete with Photobox Group signing an initial decade-long lease on the site.
