A provider of smart baggage management solutions for airports has appointed Lina Margolin as its new chief operating officer.

AirPortr, rolling out its product at airports across the globe, has flown in the former Gett executive who also has experience at Optimove and eBay.

Her knowledge spans data science, customer success, analytics, growth, compliance and SaaS. The firm says Margolin’s experience will be instrumental in driving increased speed of adoption by customers at AirPortr.

Its technology was developed to handle the regulatory, commercial, operational and customer-facing complexities involved with baggage handling and processing.

Headquartered in London, the baggage platform has been adopted by some of the world’s largest airlines and airports, including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and London Heathrow.

Margolin will be integral to AirPortr’s global strategic partnership with Swissport – the largest provider of ground and cargo handling services – which was announced last month and will see AirPortr’s products and services become available across Swissport’s network of 269 airport locations in 47 countries.

“As part of our executive team, we were looking for a COO with an innate ability to turn high complexity into simplicity, build robust organisational structures and culture, and master global go-to-market strategies at large scale,” said CEO and co-founder Randel Darby.

“With Lina’s depth and breadth of experience, we believe her skills will be invaluable to our ongoing success and growth, at this pivotal moment for the business.”

Margolin added: “AirPortr is an amazing business with an incredible culture.

“From my first meeting with Randel, I clearly understood the size of the opportunity, the relentless focus on customers and teams as well as the phenomenal product. I am thrilled to have this opportunity.”
