Today LCR Activate publishes a list of 35 of the rising stars of Liverpool City Region’s burgeoning tech sector.
The inaugural LCR Tech Climbers 2019 list, run in partnership with BusinessCloud and Praetura Ventures, identifies 27 of the region’s most exciting tech scale-ups alongside eight firms the judges identified as ‘ones to watch’.
The list has been compiled after an exhaustive search to find those companies achieving high growth as a result of an innovative and creative use of technology.

Companies had to demonstrate they had significant operations in Liverpool City Region and met at least one of the following pre-qualifying requirements:
- Development of Intellectual property (IP) or proprietary technology;
- Provision of a unique tech solution to a problem;
- Disruption of their sector.
A long list of nearly 80 submissions was cut down to 27 scale-ups by an expert panel including representatives from LCR Activate, Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, Praetura Ventures and BusinessCloud magazine.
This was supplemented with a second list of eight exciting tech companies identified as ‘ones to watch’.
The successful names included in the LCR Tech Climbers 2019 list will be invited to an unveiling event planned for October.
