Leeds edtech firm Smoothwall unveils rebrand

Edtech firm Smoothwall has unveiled a corporate rebrand and launched two new solutions to help protect students from online harm.

The Leeds-based company launched Smoothwall Classroom Manager and Smoothwall Cloud Filter at the 2019 Texas Computer Education Association Convention.

Classroom Manager, the firm’s first formal foray into classroom assistance, empowers teachers to monitor and control student devices to maintain focus in busy digital classrooms, as well as lower their reliance on technical support.

It brings to the market a unique combination of ease of use and cross multi-platform support – both of which are essential features in today’s schools.

Smoothwall, which featured on our ‘101 Yorkshire and Humberside’ list, is also continuing to develop its award-winning web filter with the launch of Cloud Filter. School districts will be able to deploy web filtering without the need for hardware, allowing them to filter content on all managed devices, on or offsite, in support of one-to-one initiatives.

Smoothwall, a leader in the edtech space with over four million users worldwide, is one of the only providers that also gives districts a choice of on-premise, cloud-based or hybrid deployment options to accommodate the requirements of diverse technology environments.

Smoothwall’s new brand assets include a logo that contains the company’s ‘Circle of Trust,’ a graphic that reflects the company’s relentless mission to be the most trustworthy safeguarding provider in the world.

The announcement comes less than a year after former Microsoft and Tesla executive, Georg Ell, joined Smoothwall as CEO.

Ell has ignited a complete transformation of the market-leading safeguarding provider, with the acquisition of monitoring software firm Future Digital in 2018, coupled with the goal to become the safeguarding provider of choice in all of its markets.

With a 20 per cent revenue growth for 2018 under its belt, they will continue the upward trajectory in 2019 with an innovative technology roadmap that includes new product advancements, enrichment of current solutions, as well as better customer support and education about the risks and means of protecting students.

“Our customer focus is absolute. Smoothwall started out at the nexus of the dot-com era as an open source firewall – built by users, for users,” said Ell.

“In 2019, and staying true to our pioneering roots, we are taking our solutions, our support and our customer relationships to new heights, to ensure that as our digital world evolves, we keep our customers one step ahead.”
