Entrepreneur Amy Moring has a double reason to celebrate after raising £1m for her eCommerce healthy food brand Hunter & Gather and becoming a Mum – within days of each other!
Moring and her co-founder Jeff Webster launched the food and supplements brand in 2017 that avoid refined sugar, grains and inflammatory seed oils.
Raising investment is a stressful experience for any founder at the best of times but Moring closed the deal while being 39 weeks pregnant.
She revealed: “We finalised this raise and signed the documents just a few days before welcoming our first baby, Oakley, into the world via the most natural home birth.
“I managed the process of the raise from documents with the lawyers to investor comms. Safe to say I have never felt more pressure to close a deal on a deadline!
“Balancing intense conversations with birth preparations, investor calls with baby name decisions – this experience has been nothing short of intense/insane – a bit like the daily life of an entrepreneur though right.”
Webster said his partner had been ‘instrumental’ in closing the raise, which has been backed by existing shareholders and high net worth individuals.
This investment will help the company continue its UK expansion; grow its range of healthy products; and recruit more staff.
Moring added: “With Oakley in one arm and this investment in the other, Jeff Webster and I are more inspired than ever to build something meaningful, healthy, and impactful to benefit the health of the nation. Here’s to new chapter – both at home and in business!”
The new Mum has been widely praised in social media.
Sharon Maybury, sales director at Plentfic, said: “Incredible achievement Amy, when you were literally ready to pop!”
Cathy Moseley, founder of Boundless Activated Snacking, said: “Multitasking at its best – no one could do it better.”
