Embracing disruptive technology to avoid the mistakes of former retail giants like Blockbuster, Kodak and Jessops is the subject of a new BusinessCloud event.
We’ve teamed up with Cascade HR Software to look at how companies can future-proof their business through technology.
DVD rental giant Blockbuster famously turned down the chance to buy Netflix because it couldn’t see the opportunity or threat posed by online streaming.
The BusinessCloud event on October 10 – called ‘Future-proof your business through tech’ – will also look at companies like Shop Direct and Auto Trader, which have embraced technology to not only survive in the new age but thrive in it.
Shop Direct has gone from being a catalogue business to a pure internet retailer and is reaping the rewards. Auto Trader is now the UK’s largest digital automotive marketplace after ditching its print edition completely in 2013,
Speakers already confirmed for the event include: Jonathan Bowers, managing director, UKFast Enterprise; Mylo Kaye, CEO, app development agency Dreamr; Paul Green, Chief Commercial Officer, Godel; and Frazer Durris, managing director, Businesswise Solutions.
