Founders

A founder who recently saw his business crowned Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce’s Innovator of the Year will light up FUEL Manchester next week.

Ram Gupta, MD of Nybble.co.uk, featured on our 2026 Northern Leaders list – published this week – and also in our Founder 250 list earlier in the year.

Gupta founded Nybble in Blackburn in 1998 as an IT retailer before pivoting in 2010 to become a managed service provider (MSP) supplying equipment and software to automotive and manufacturing companies. Its five pillar services of managed IT, software development, cybersecurity, AI and audio visual fall under its banner Nybble ONE.

Awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in 2025 for his contribution to the community, Gupta dedicated the honour to the ‘wonderful’ people of the town.

Now growing the business globally – with a particular focus on Manchester – on Wednesday 28th October, he will speak on the breakfast panel at FUEL Manchester – you can sign up for free at the link below – while a select group of founders will also pick his brains in the following invite-only growth planning masterclasses.

Meanwhile Joe Makepeace, the firm’s mission specialist and senior manager, will serve as an expert in the AI & technology masterclasses.

After winning the GM Chamber award, he wrote on LinkedIn: “To be recognised amongst such incredible businesses in the fastest-growing city in the world was truly a pinch-me moment.

“Reflecting on a 28-year journey when we started as a small retail outlet working tirelessly seven days a week, to a now international business that provides its five pillar services to the biggest and best in the world.

“But for now, we are feeling truly blessed, humbled and grateful for what life has given us and for the privileges it’s allowed us to share.  Thank you and let’s keep working hard, working strong and working with purpose to share our successes and improve our regions piece by piece.

“After all, you can’t store success – it needs to be distributed. Manchester, thank you for recognising us; Nybble is here and is ready to do business with you.”

He told BusinessCloud recently: “Manchester has a unique combination of ambition, creativity and community. We’ve built strong relationships here, and I’m proud that Nybble can contribute to a business community that encourages people to think bigger and support one another.”

On supporting FUEL, Gupta said: “Growing a business takes courage, persistence and the best people around you. That’s why I’m looking forward to FUEL: the chance to share honest experiences, learn from other founders and help ambitious businesses take their next step.

“I want people to leave with useful ideas, new connections and the confidence to embrace technology as the catalyst to their growth ambitions.”

FUEL Manchester is sponsored by GM Business Growth Hub, S&W and Nybble, with support from Bruntwood SciTech.
