Synectics has appointed Alison Vincent as a non-executive director.

The Sheffield-based security and surveillance systems provider also revealed that former chairman and NED Peter Rae will step down from the board on February 19 due to international business commitments.

Vincent is the former CTO in UK & Ireland for tech giant Cisco Systems while she also served as global chief information security officer for HSBC Holdings.

“I am delighted to welcome Alison to the board. She has an impressive record of leading and managing large R&D teams in technology areas very relevant to Synectics,” said Chair David Coghlan.

“In addition to her general experience of global software and enterprise systems-based businesses, she will provide the board with an independent expert’s view of the company’s technology strategy and development execution.

“Peter Rae has made fundamental contributions to guiding and helping develop Synectics over many years; his wise and resolutely independent viewpoints have consistently challenged the board and executive management, and have led to better decisions.

“We will miss Peter and owe him our most sincere thanks.”
