Two of the stars of this year’s Dragons’ Den and The Apprentice will be speaking at BusinessCloud’s latest Northern Leaders event.

Northern Leaders: Meet the New Generation of Entrepreneur (NGE)’ will take place on June 17th in the Leeds office of KPMG.

Speakers include 25-year-old Dragons’ Den reject Lucie Macleod, who walked out the Den empty-handed but grew sales in her business Hair Syrup by 66% and is set to hit turnover of £6.5m.

She’ll be joined by The Apprentice star Keir Shave, 27, who made it to week seven of the hit show and is the founder of Leeds-based telemarketing company Parallel Partnership.

The unique event will also hear from several of the people included in BusinessCloud’s exclusive Northern Leaders Futures list.

The 75-strong name list is made up of people aged 45 or less who continue to make the biggest positive difference to the North.

The event will look at a new breed of entrepreneurs who are changing the face of business.

The NGEs – or New Generation of Entrepreneur – have a reputation for being digitally savvy, bold, fearless, driven by social impact and wanting to do business differently.

The early evening event runs from 5.30pm-7.30pm and will be hosted by BusinessCloud’s executive editor Chris Maguire.

Maguire said: “We’re super excited for this and it completes our trilogy of Northern Leaders events.

“When we held our Northern Leaders Awards event in Manchester on January 23rd we pledged to take the Northern Leaders concept across the North.

“On May 8th we’re in Newcastle for an exclusive evening with Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies, Greggs CEO Roisin Currie and Moja founder Sophie Milliken.

“However, we wanted to do something in Yorkshire and celebrate the names on our Northern Leaders Futures list.

“That’s how we came up with this unique event – ‘Northern Leaders: Meet the New Generation of Entrepreneur (NGE)’ –   which combines two of the stars of this year’s Dragons’ Den and The Apprentice.

“The episode with Lucie Macleod was the most talked about show on the latest series of Dragons’ Den but people may not appreciate what an incredible entrepreneur she is.

“Keir Shave made all the headlines in episode one of The Apprentice when he resorted to a game of rock, paper, scissors to seal a sale.

“However, he set up his Leeds-based telemarketing company Parallel Partnership in just three days, after his previous employer went bust overnight.

“Lucie and Keir are two examples of the New Generation of Entrepreneur (NGE) and I can’t wait to hear their stories, alongside several of the people from our Northern Leaders Futures list.

“We’re delighted to be working with KPMG again, who have been our partner on every step of our Northern Leaders journey.”
