A gain of more than $3,000 since Friday has seen Bitcoin close on a record valuation.

The cryptocurrency market leader’s all-time high of $64k in now well within reach after it climbed 10% in a week.

At the time of writing (7am UK), BTC is worth more than $62,300.

Smart contract blockchain platform Ethereum enjoyed a more modest rise over the last three days.

The second most valuable crypto moved from just below $3,850 on Friday morning to $3,875 on Monday, also 10% up in a week.

ETH’s all-time high – around $4,200 – is also within reach.

Solana (SOL) rose from $155 to $161, up 7% over seven days, while Binance Coin (BNB) consolidated its positive performance last week by moving from $469 to $472 – 14% higher than last Monday.

Another standout coin from last week, Polkadot (DOT), moved up from $41.21 to $42.47 and is 22% up in a week; while meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE) added half a cent to reach 24 cents, which puts it 2% up over seven days.

Two of the top 10 coins lost value over the weekend. Cardano (ADA) dropped from $2.21 to $2.15, putting it 3% down in a week, while Ripple’s XRP lost 4c to sit at $1.10 – 6% down over seven days.

The overall market cap of the more than 12,800 coins is at $2.5 trillion.
