The Co-op are have entered the HealthTech space with their latest app, Co-op Health, which allows customers to repeat prescriptions in real time.

The app enables patients registered with a GP in England to order their medication and collect from any pharmacy in England.

Manchester-based app developer Apadmi has been tasked with delivering the app’s front-end build, working closely with the Co-op Health team to ensure a clear and smooth user journey.

“We’re thrilled the Co-op has turned to us as a technical partner once again,” said Matt Hunt, Chief Client Officer for Apadmi.

“The Co-op is at the heart of communities, so a return to Health is great news for their members and the communities they serve.

“Over the last couple of years, we’ve helped digitally transform operations for companies like Argos, the NHS and United Utilities – we’re pleased to be working in partnership with the Co-op.”

Apadmi previously partnered with the retailer on the early development of the Co-op membership app, which was released in 2018 for trial.

While the first iteration of this app has focused on repeat prescriptions, Apadmi are working with the Co-op Health team to identify future self-care functionality for customers within the app.

Tim Davies, Managing Director of Co-op Health added: “It’s great to be working with Apadmi as Co-op launches back into Health, with the introduction of our app.

‘’The pharmacy sector is at the start of a digital revolution and we’re excited for what’s to come, as people increasingly look for more flexibility and convenience in accessing their medication. The app is just the start for our Health business.’’
