BusinessCloud achieved its best ever website performance in October in its near 10-year history.

More than 88,000 people visited our website last month – a 32 per cent increase on September’s figure and a massive 87 per cent rise on October 2024.

The figure was swelled by the success of our new live blog BusinessBite, which was only launched in September to provide our readers with breaking news updates.

Our next best-read story was about Cleo founder Barney Hussey-Yeo, who has been linked with buying his boyhood club, Sheffield Wednesday, out of administration.

Another story that performed well was wheelchair user Simon Sansome, who secured investment from all five Dragons’ Den for his mobile app Snowball – described as the ‘TripAdvisor for the disabled community’.

Steven Bartlett: ‘I’m less than 1% into my journey’

Our exclusive interview with Dragons’ Den star and Diary of a CEO host Steven Bartlett, following an 8-figure investment into his new business Steven.com, also performed well.

October’s record-breaking performance takes the numbers of visitors to BusinessCloud’s website in 2025 to 712k as we target one million by the end of the year.

October was a busy month all round for BusinessCloud with the launch of our 2025 Northern Leaders list and our FUEL Manchester event.

BusinessCloud editor Jonathan Symcox said: “October’s record-breaking performance is the result of a lot of hard work and we couldn’t be happier.

“We’re constantly trying to improve our offer and that’s why we launched our live blog BusinessBite, which has massively increased our story count.

“BusinessCloud is not just about our website. We had brilliant feedback to both our FUEL Manchester event and the launch of our second Northern Leaders list.

“On the same day that I hosted a roundtable in London, Chris was doing an exclusive interview with Steven Bartlett in his London office.

“I think it illustrates BusinessCloud’s burgeoning reputation and we know that we’ve now got more readers in more countries than ever before.”

Co-owner Chris Maguire, who is the executive editor of the BusinessCloud, said: “I’m really proud of what we do. The story that I’m proudest of was the jailing of stalker Sam Wall after a prolonged  campaign of online abuse.

“We didn’t just cover the sentencing hearing but we also published the full impact statement from both of her victims – motivational speaker Brad Burton and leading tech industry figure Naomi Timperley – because their voices had to be heard.”

Next week Maguire and reporter Patrick Killeen will be in Lisbon covering the Web Summit before we hold the 2025 Northern Leaders Awards on November 20th.

If that wasn’t enough, we also joined forces with Darts Corner to install a personalised BusinessCloud darts board in our office in Rochdale – complete with our strapline ‘tech insight with bite’.
