London’s tech recruitment timebomb is the subject of BusinessCloud’s next  event in the capital – with six big name speakers already confirmed.

Chieu Cao, who is the co-founder and chief marketing officer of employee perks and engagement company Perkbox, will be speaking at the early evening ‘Tech Recruitment Timebomb’ event on October 10.

Perkbox’s growing list of clients includes OpenTable, Nandos, Hawksmoor, Rentalcars and Levi Strauss & Co.

Cao will be joined by Eddie Lewis, co-founder of recruitment platform Final Stage; Craig Brown, product marketing manager at recruitment CRM and marketing platform Beamery; Simon Burckhardt, managing director, Vonage UK; Elaine Tyler, CEO of graduate recruitment solutions provider Venatrix; and Rob Crowley, head of human resources at peer-to-peer lender RateSetter.

Countless surveys suggest that the challenge of finding tech talent has reached chronic levels and uncertainty over Brexit is only set to make the matter worse with 13 per cent of posts currently filled by international workers.

The skills shortage has seen salaries spiral with over a third of digital tech businesses admitting that they struggle to keep up with candidates’ pay demands.

BusinessCloud’s event will look at the problem and what can be done to tackle it. It follows our inaugural  London event in July about FinTech.

BusinessCloud editor Chris Maguire said: “Recruitment is a major challenge for growing tech businesses, and nowhere is this more evident than in London.

“The competition for talent is fierce and start-ups are under increasing pressure to provide higher salaries or risk losing candidates.

“With Brexit around the corner, it’s important that we start a conversation among the city’s digital and tech community to tackle the problem head on.”
