UK tech giant Arm has signed a lease with Gary Neville’s Relentless Developments to take three floors in the upcoming £400 million landmark St Michael’s development in Manchester.

The Cambridge-headquartered company, which designs the microprocessors used in a vast range of electronic devices – including smartphones, tablets and laptops – will occupy 68,860 sq ft of space after making the move from its current Manchester premises at 11 Portland Street.

It is described as Manchester’s largest letting in two years and the biggest to date at St Michael’s, where Arm will join financial intelligence firm S&P Global and international law firms Pinsent Masons and Hill Dickinson.

Arm, which snubbed London for a $54.5 billion listing on New York’s Nasdaq exchange last year, has 27 offices across 16 countries and employs nearly 3,000 staff.

No.1 St Michael’s is expected to be the first fully Net Zero Carbon commercial development in the city, comprising nine floors of office space and a Japanese-Peruvian rooftop restaurant from Chotto Matte.

“This is an incredible deal with a hugely innovative, global leader in technology – not only is it our largest letting, but it’s the largest in the city for two years,” said Neville, director at Relentless Developments.

“This perfectly sums up the momentum that’s rapidly building here at St Michael’s as construction continues at pace. We’re looking forward to welcoming the team from Arm and being part of their future plans for growth.”

Gary Campbell, EVP, central engineering at Arm, said: “Arm deeply values creating environments that empower our people to do their best work.

“St Michael’s not only brings a modern location with a rich heritage, but like Arm, prioritises sustainability and well-being. The Arm team looks forward to continued support of the Manchester community.”
