Award-winning consumer and enterprise mobile app developer Apadmi has almost doubled its turnover thanks to support from Business Growth Hub.
Set up in 2009, the Trafford-based business builds technology solutions, as well as offering server and infrastructure development for some of the UK’s largest companies including Range Rover, AstraZeneca and The Guardian.
Howard Simms, co-founder and director of Apadmi, contacted Business Growth Hub, part of Manchester Growth Company, and enrolled the Apadmi team on the Hub’s mentoring programme.
“As the business was growing rapidly, the pressure was mounting on us to continue our strong performance, but we didn’t know where to turn for advice,” said Simms.
“Business Growth Hub offered a gateway to everything we needed to build a strong foundation for the future.
“The mentors advised us on how to generate the best contacts, and played an instrumental role in the sourcing of training providers for key members of staff.
“The Executive Development Programme is something we would also highly recommend to our peers and we are looking forward to working with the Hub in the future.”
Business Growth Hub brings together over 300 mentors who take time out of their roles at leading companies to nurture local talent.
The mentors provided access to key networks and worked with the firm to create a strategy focused on innovation, commercialisation and internationalisation.
Over two years the mentoring support helped the company increase its headcount to 60 staff and almost double its turnover.
Apadmi has now gone on to work with a host of famous brands including the BBC, helping the organisation to develop the popular BBC iPlayer Radio app.
Business Growth Hub will continue to work with Apadmi through its Executive Development Programme, which provides training to senior executives, directors and CEOs on topics such as self-management, talent management and business acumen.
Deirdre Hughes, mentoring advisor at Business Growth Hub, said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Apadmi and see the business go from strength to strength, counting household names such as the BBC, Range Rover and AstraZeneca as clients.
“The success of the team is a tribute to their hard work and also to the importance of mentoring, to be able to ask someone who’s been there and done that, is invaluable.”
