Tech giant Amazon has launched a new virtual content experience in partnership with VR firm Oculus.

The Prime Video VR app will allow UK and US users with an Amazon Prime membership and an Oculus headset to step into a virtual world, complete with its own cinema, on which to view Amazon Prime’s TV and film content.

The VR app also include a curated selection of 360° videos, which make use of the VR headset, Oculus said.

“Prime members can watch the Emmy-nominated short film INVASION!, starring two adorable bunnies as they thwart an alien attack on planet Earth, and Greenland Melting, an immersive documentary from NOVA and Frontline that explores the effects of climate change on the Arctic island of Greenland,” Oculus wrote in a blog.

The app has been designed to be used without a mouse or remote control, and includes voice-powered search.

Access to Amazon’s Prime Video VR requires the Prime Video VR app, which is available on Oculus Quest, Oculus Go, and Gear VR headsets.
