Recruitment & HRInvestment

Alfa, an AI recruitment startup, has secured around £500,000 in pre-seed funding.

Alfa claims to be building the world’s first truly intelligent AI recruiter. It says its agent can instantly find, screen and connect employers with the top 1% of candidates.

Alfa is not described as a replacement, but rather a co-pilot designed to automate all of the admin work of recruitment, so hiring managers can spend more time speaking to candidates about the things which really matter.

Unlike some humans, it says, Alfa has no gender or racial bias. This massively improves DE&I by supporting underrepresented minorities.

The round, which values the business at £4.75m, was led by Fuel Ventures with participation from Davie Rowe (Sixty Six & Black Green), Pierre Decote (Revolut & Golden Square), Chris Adelsbach (Outrun Ventures), and multiple other angel Investors.

“Recruiting is broken. It’s a slow and manual process, with extremely expensive hiring fees, and hundreds of unsuitable applications,” said Alfie Whattam, CEO.

“Hiring managers are frustrated, and candidates are burnt out applying to job advert after job advert and then never hearing back. That’s why we have built Alfa.

“Our AI agent is capable of millions of calls simultaneously, in any language, at 97% lower cost than a human.”

Mark Pearson, founder of Fuel Ventures, commented: “At Fuel Ventures, we back founders who are solving real-world problems with cutting-edge technology, and Alfa is doing exactly that.

“Recruitment is long overdue for disruption, and Alfa’s AI-driven approach has the potential to revolutionise how businesses find and hire top talent. We’re excited to support Alfie and the team as they build the future of AI-powered hiring.”
