Recruitment & HR

A £1m AI-powered HR platform designed to help employers avoid costly mistakes has attracted more than 1,000 registered users in its first month.

Developed over three years by HR strategist and employment law specialist Jude Fiddler, Adam HR is designed to challenge potentially flawed HR decisions before organisations put them into practice.

Fiddler, who founded outsourced HR consultancy Direct Law & Personnel (DLP) more than 25 years ago, subsequently established HR AI Pro and assembled a seven-strong team to develop Adam, investing £1m to bring it to market.

Adam – short for Advanced Decision and Risk Manager – underwent 18 months of testing and refinement in the lead-up to its launch at the start of October.

It has already attracted registrations from HR professionals working in large organisations, national chains, SMEs and the public sector, spanning industries including hospitality, manufacturing, retail and healthcare.

Fiddler warned that the rapid adoption of generic AI could create new employment relations problems, with organisations producing documents faster without improving the decisions behind them.

She said: “The danger isn’t that AI writes badly. The danger is that it can be wrong extremely convincingly.

“HR professionals face enormous pressure to make complex employment decisions while keeping up with changing legislation and case law.

“Generic AI can produce an impressive-looking letter in seconds. But our experience shows that employers and HR teams are often asking the wrong questions, following flawed processes or using AI to support decisions that have already created legal risks.

“Automating a letter is easy. Automating a bad decision just helps you make the wrong decision faster.”

Unlike general-purpose AI tools, Adam has been developed specifically around HR decision-making, risk identification and employment relations strategy.

Its bespoke knowledge and decision-making architecture draws on nearly 500,000 specialist HR documents, prompts, instructions, correspondence and solutions developed and accumulated by Fiddler and her team over more than 25 years.

Without needing specialist AI prompting skills, users can describe an issue, paste emails or upload documents.

Adam examines the information, identifies gaps, challenges assumptions and highlights legal and procedural risks before helping establish a strategy or draft correspondence.

The platform supports HR professionals dealing with grievances, disciplinary matters, redundancy, dismissals, performance management, absence, discrimination, whistleblowing, investigations and appeals.

Fiddler said Adam was inspired by years of supporting organisations when HR processes have already gone wrong.

She added: “In around 40% of cases where DLP is brought in to resolve problems, we find that the HR process itself has been flawed.

“Often, the problem isn’t a missing letter. It’s that the right questions weren’t asked, risks weren’t recognised or decisions were made before the facts were established.

“By then, an organisation may already be facing a grievance, appeal or employment tribunal claim.

“Adam helps HR professionals recognise those issues earlier, while there is still an opportunity to prevent escalation.”

Fiddler also warned about confidential information being entered into generic AI services without appropriate safeguards.

“HR departments handle some of the most confidential information in any organisation. Employers must understand where that information goes, how it’s protected and what controls are in place,” she said.

Adam incorporates encrypted conversations and organisation-specific branding. It also helps prepare tailored letters, investigation questions, reports and outcomes, reducing administrative workloads.

Available through a freemium subscription model, Adam is designed to be accessible to independent HR professionals and smaller employers as well as larger organisations.

Fiddler believes this is particularly valuable for SMEs facing the same employment laws and risks as major employers, but without comparable resources.

“Some of the world’s biggest organisations are investing millions in AI transformation, yet smaller employers face exactly the same legal obligations,” she said.

“We wanted to make specialist HR technology accessible without enormous budgets or dedicated AI expertise.

“This isn’t about replacing HR professionals. It’s about giving them more time to support employees, improve workplace relationships and prevent problems rather than constantly reacting to them.

“HR professionals remain responsible for their decisions. Adam helps them reach those decisions with greater confidence and a clearer understanding of the risks.

“Our message is simple: you make the decision – Adam makes getting there faster, better and safer.”
