Made Smarter Yorkshire has offered a new programme to provide funding and education for cybersecurity to UK manufacturers as part of a larger £400,000 grant.

Partnering with Sheffield Hallam University, the programme aims to help businesses gain basic accreditations, and train ‘Cyber Security Champions’ within manufacturers, employees who are tasked with reviewing an organisation’s weaknesses and building a cyber-oriented culture more broadly.

The programme comes at a time of increasing risk to the UK manufacturing industry in particular which, based on industry surveys, saw nearly a third of firms targeted in attacks last year.
