The cryptocurrency market enjoyed large weekend gains despite falling back slightly in the last 24 hours.
At the time of writing (7am UK), market leader Bitcoin is closing on $47,900, up $4,000 on Friday morning. BTC is up 8% over seven days.
Solana jumped from $141 to $169 and is 21% up on its price last Monday. With a market cap of $50.3 billion, it has usurped XRP to move into sixth spot in the valuation table.
Ripple’s coin moved from 96 cents on Friday to break through $1. On Monday morning it sits at $1.03, up 6% over seven days, with a market cap of £48.4bn.
Binance Coin (BNB) rocketed from $389 to $419 in three days, which leaves its seven-day price increase at 18%. It has jumped above Cardano into third place by market cap, with both worth more than $70m.
The proof-of-stake blockchain platform’s ADA token improved from $2.12 on Friday to $2.19 yet is the only major coin to be down over the course of a week (3%).
Smart contract blockchain platform Ethereum (ETH) climbed from $3,000 to top $3,350. The world’s second most valuable crypto is 8% up over seven days.
Polkadot (DOT) improved from $29 on Friday to $31 and is 4% up in a week.
Meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE) improved from 20c to 21.6c and is also 4% up in a week.
The overall market cap of the more than 12,200 coins is at $2.11 trillion, up from $1.93tr on Friday.
