Beech Holdings plans to create 20 jobs in Manchester following the purchase of a Grade II-listed building in the city centre which it plans to transform into carbon-neutral homes.

The firm will increase its headcount to 120 by April across its Beech Construction, Beech Properties and Manchester Apartments businesses.

“2017 is going to be a big year for Beech Holdings, with plenty of exciting projects in the pipeline,” said Beech Holdings owner Stephen Beech.

“It follows on from a fantastic 2016 which saw us take on 63 new members of staff, meaning our headcount at the end of the year was 100.

“Our new starters coming on board will not only join at an exciting time for us in regards to kick-starting new projects, but also at a time of political excitement and change in the Manchester city region – which includes the race to become Greater Manchester’s first Mayor.”

The property developer is to convert Number 2 Waterloo Street, which used to be part of a factory and packing warehouse but has been empty for 70 years, into 17 apartments after purchasing it for £1 million.

“Collectively, our expert staff bring unloved historic buildings back to useful purpose and provide affordable high standard low carbon apartments to new graduates and young professionals,” added Beech.
