Moshi Monsters franchise creators Mind Candy have raised $12m from investors for its Moshi Sleep and Mindfulness app.
The Series B round was led by US based VC Accel which has previously backed the likes of Deliveroo, Slack, Facebook and Spotify.
This latest round also saw participation from Latitude Ventures, TriplePoint Capital, and MTV CEO and chairman Bill Roedy.
The app, launched in in December 2017, borrows the style and characters of its existing Moshi Monsters brand, integrating it with audio-based content for children up to 10.
The subscription-based app is designed to support children’s mental health and sleep via original stories, sounds, and meditations. Actors Goldie Hawn, Sir Patrick Stewart and Brian Blessed have lent their voices to some of the app’s content.
The company said the latest capital will power the launch of new features and creation of new content to add to its existing 45 hours of original pieces.
It will also be used to fund ad campaigns and new partnerships, with a focus on expansion in the US.
Julia Hawkins of investor Latitude Ventures will join Moshi’s board in following the funding.
