Industrial components business Assembly Techniques has undergone a management buyout (MBO).
Founded in 1987 and based in Dukinfield, Greater Manchester, Assembly Techniques employs 50 people and has a turnover of £12.7m.
Carla Giles, managing director of Assembly Techniques, led the MBO after first joining the business in 2004 in a customer service role.
She was promoted to general manager in 2009 before becoming managing director in 2024.
Giles said: “As a management team, we are incredibly proud to be taking ownership of a business with such a strong heritage and reputation in the market.
“I’ve worked with our customers for more than 20 years, so I know what they value. The aim now is to maintain that standard while helping more businesses get new products into production.”
Her husband David is due to join the business next month to lead business development.
KeySME Business Finance, founded by Ash Richardson, structured and arranged the funding for the deal.
Richardson said: “Working with HSBC, we collectively delivered a flexible asset-based lending structure which will support Carla’s ambitions for the business.
“This demonstrates how bespoke funding solutions can help ambitious UK SMEs achieve their growth objectives.”
Assembly Techniques supplies industrial and precision components, kitting and assembly solutions across multiple sectors.
National law firm TLT advised on the acquisition.
Corporate partner Victoria Zivkovic said: “This management buyout reflects the strength of the business that Carla and the wider management team have built.
“With a strong reputation, long-standing customer relationships and a clear growth strategy, the business is exceptionally well positioned for the future.
“The successful completion of the buyout demonstrates the value of a collaborative approach across legal, financial and commercial advisers.”
