Second to pitch in the Dragons’ Den tonight are two university friends-turned-founders presenting a flat-pack women’s urinal designed to shorten female toilet queues.
Amber Probyn and Hazel McShane, from Ross-on-Wye in Norfolk, are the founders of PEEQUAL.
Their urinals, designed to be three times faster than traditional portable toilets, were at 35 events this year – including the London Marathon, Reading and Leeds Festivals and Brighton Pride.
Over 1.25 million people have used them since 2022.
“I used to watch the programme all the time, but I definitely never thought I’d be on it. It was such an amazing experience,” said Amber of appearing in the Den.
On the Dragons, she added: “They all popped a squat to see how the toilets work – which was amazing!
“Women queue for an hour longer than men each day at festivals. Our urinals are all about pee-equality.”
Hazel said: “I think everyone was a bit surprised when we backed our truck into the studio and started hauling out the urinal!
“We quickly announced it was freshly cleaned…
“When you’ve watched pitches torn apart on TV, it’s a little nerve-wracking heading to the lift.
“We’re really proud of how we did, though.”
