GALLOS Technologies, a security, defence and resilience technology venture studio and investor, has announced a £35 million balance sheet investment round.
The round was led by Ventura Capital and Aberdeen Investments and will fund the next phase of growth at GALLOS. Founding investor Lansdowne Partners also participated in the financing, and the round remains open to a small number of additional strategic investors.
The raise comes at a moment of heightened geopolitical tension, with allied governments rearming and the private sector waking up to security and resilience as a strategic imperative rather than a cost line.
Co-founded by senior former national security and UK special forces leaders, GALLOS builds, backs and connects world-class start-ups focusing on security, defence and resilience innovation.
The firm’s perspective is rooted in the team’s decades of nation state level security, intelligence, and defence experience, with team members including the former director of GCHQ Sir Jeremy Fleming (pictured), the former CTO of GCHQ Gaven Smith, and the former CTO of the US National Security Agency (NSA) Greg Smithberger.
The new capital will fund the next cohort of impactful new companies and investment in the GALLOS platform as the company executes its ambitious growth strategy. It builds on the early success of GALLOS startups StirlingX and AI Score, and strong performance in the GALLOS Ventures investment portfolio.
“The world faces rapidly growing and evolving digital threats, fuelled by geopolitical instability and sharpened by the speed at which new and emerging technologies are being turned against us,” said Sir Jeremy, chairman of GALLOS’s strategic advisory board.
“GALLOS’s work enhances our ability to protect both people and businesses, in the UK and other allied nations.”
Josh Burch, managing partner and co-founder of GALLOS, added: “We have created something unique at GALLOS: a platform that combines frontline national security experience with the ability to build, back and scale companies at pace.
“This capital raise will unlock the development of the next StirlingX and AI Score, as well as enhance our operating platform and the GALLOS Ventures business.”
Mo El Husseiny, managing partner of Ventura Capital, said: “GALLOS’s power is in its people. This team knows where the gaps lie, and are filling out national defence and resilience whitespaces with great purpose.
“GALLOS is the go-to platform for security, defence and resilience at a time when both the public and private sectors demand pace, quality and innovation. We are proud to have co-led GALLOS’s capital raise.”
Nalaka De Silva, head of private market solutions at Aberdeen Investments and portfolio manager at abrdn Global Private Markets Fund, said: “GALLOS combines operational credibility, deep technical expertise and entrepreneurial ambition with the differentiated insight of the GALLOS Alliance, its network of senior security and risk leaders.
“That combination gives the platform a distinctive ability to identify resilience gaps, validate market need and build companies with real strategic relevance. We are proud to co-lead this round and look forward to supporting GALLOS as it scales a category-defining company.”
