Partners at YFM Equity Partners have completed a management buyout of the private equity firm.
Managing partner Jamie Roberts (pictured) led the MBO alongside Eamon Nolan, head of fundraising and investor relations, and COO Marcus Karia.
The trio have bought Dave Hall and David Bell, the leaders of a previous MBO 13 years ago, out of the business.
YFM, founded in 1982 and headquartered in Leeds, also has offices in London, Manchester, Reading and Birmingham.
The firm recently closed £85m in VCT fundraising and began raising for its latest buyout fund.
“This buyout marks an exciting new chapter for YFM,” said Roberts. “Over recent years we have built a strong platform, and we are now in the second year of a five-year plan to significantly grow the business, expanding our regional footprint, increasing the number of entrepreneurs we support, and growing our funds under management.
“We chose to fund the transaction using debt provided by Triple Point to ensure the business remains fully owned by the partners, supporting our ambition to be the UK’s largest independently owned investor in entrepreneurs.”
Hall will continue as a consultant, member of YFM’s investment committee and investor representative at portfolio company Matillion.
Bell will also support the firm on a part-time basis.
“Having been part of YFM for many years, I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together. I look forward to continuing to support the team as they build on the firm’s strong foundations and drive the business forward,” said Hall.
