Summa Equity has acquired workforce safety technology provider Peoplesafe from mid-market private equity firm ECI Partners in a deal that will support the company’s international expansion.

Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Surrey, Peoplesafe protects more than 350,000 workers and generated £22.6 million in annual revenues in its last financial year, with core operations across the UK, US and Canada.

The business supports employers in safeguarding lone and frontline workers operating in complex, remote and hybrid environments.

Its customer base spans both the public and private sectors, including organisations in healthcare, real estate, retail, utilities, industry and professional services.

It equips employees with real-time access to emergency support through a suite of integrated safety solutions, including mobile applications, dedicated devices and a 24/7 in-house alarm receiving centre (ARC).

Stockholm-based Summa Equity is investing from its €2.3 billion Fund III, leveraging its focus on technology-enabled resilience and experience in scaling mission-driven businesses.

The investment fits the company’s strategy of addressing critical global challenges, in this case workplace safety and risk management.

“Peoplesafe has built a strong safety offering that combines technology with real-time response,” said Johan Pietilä Holmner, director at Summa Equity.

“Under its current leadership, the company has seen impressive growth and financial performance.

“We see clear alignment between Peoplesafe’s mission and Summa’s focus on building resilient, technology-enabled solutions – contributing to a safer and more protected workplace, which is aligned with our thematic investment strategy.”

ECI Partners, which is exiting its majority stake, will continue to support Peoplesafe as a minority investor.

During ECI’s ownership, the firm expanded into North America, completed key acquisitions and launched a new market-leading platform.

Naz Dossa, CEO of Peoplesafe, added: “Partnering with Summa Equity marks an important step for Peoplesafe.

“Summa shares our long-term view and our focus on protecting people at work, and their support will help us continue to develop our platform, expand into new markets, and serve customers at greater scale.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank ECI for their valuable support in scaling our solutions to more workers globally.”
