Steven Bartlett is reported to be preparing to launch a tech news website this month.
The Dragons’ Den star is behind Founded, reports City AM, and will cover companies in the UK and US.
He is said to be recruiting 10 journalists as well as an editor-in-chief for the publication.
The Founded.com website has been taken down for now – with only a holding page visible – but a preview of the link highlights its potential future direction.
“FOUNDED is a culturally fluent business publisher built for the founders of today. Trusted by entrepreneurs, operators, and builders around the world, we exist to champion the relentless, united by ambition, fuelled by purpose, and bound by the belief that they can build something bigger than themselves,” it states.
Bartlett recently launched a new company – Steven.com – and closed an eight-figure investment in a deal that valued the business at around £320m.
Incorporated in the US, Steven.com serves as the new parent company for all of Bartlett’s existing creator businesses – including FlightStory, FlightCast and FlightFund – and claims to maintain full independence, with Bartlett holding majority ownership of more than 90 per cent.
Bartlett has hosted the hit podcast Diary Of A CEO since 2017 and is also an investor in around 60 businesses, including matcha drink Perfect Ted and hydration brand Cadence.
On a recent visit to the FlightStory HQ in London, the TV star told BusinessCloud executive editor Chris Maguire that he’s less than 1% of the way on his journey.
“If we do a good job in laying good foundations I think the business will exist long after I’m gone,” he said.
“I think Disney is 102 years old. Walt Disney built a generational business that’s defined an era.”
Bartlett said he wants to do the same for the creator economy.
