London-based AI firm Quantexa has become the first British firm to join the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Innovator Community as a member of its Unicorn Program.

The invite-only programme unites private startup companies valued at over $1 billion with political, academic, civil society and other global leaders.

Quantexa became a unicorn in 2023 after closing a $129m funding round at a valuation of $1.8bn, becoming the first British company to achieve the status that year.

The platform allows enterprises to build context and insight modelling to enhance operations, prevent fraud, and identity external risks to their core business.

Quantexa says that the initiative provides the opportunity to help shape global policy decisions on critical topics such as AI, data privacy, digital transformation, and analytics.

Founder and CEO Vishal Marria is currently in Davos attending the forum’s annual meeting, where the theme is “collaboration for the intelligent age.”

“Joining the WEF Unicorn Program is a significant milestone for Quantexa, offering us the opportunity to work alongside some of the world’s most influential global leaders, policymakers, and innovators,” said Marria.

“As the global conversation on AI, data privacy, and digital transformation intensifies, our role in shaping these discussions becomes even more critical. We are excited to share our perspective to help define the best practices and policies shaping a more secure, transparent, and prosperous future.”

Quantexa recently achieved Centaur status after surpassing $100m in ARR. The firm now has over 800 employees and thousands of platform users working with billions of transactions and data points across the world, nine years on from its launch in 2016.

It recently ranked on BusinessCloud’s RegTech 50 for 2024.
