Hair Syrup’s highly rated social media manager Lucy Palmer has joined eCommerce skincare brand SOLSKIN.
Palmer spent nearly three years at Pembrokeshire-based hair oils business Hair Syrup, which was founded by Lucie Macleod and famously rejected by all the Dragons on Dragons’ Den.
Despite her high profile rejection, Macleod had the last laugh when Hair Syrup reported a 66 per cent increase in sales.
Palmer helped generate more than 500m views across social media at the fast-growing haircare brand and has now joined SOLSKIN as its new content and creative lead.
George Gazzard is the founder of SOLSKIN, which describes itself as the UK’s best-rated tanning brand for sensitive skin.
Gazzard said: “If you know Lucy’s work, you’ll get why we’re a bit giddy about this one.
“20+ posts a day; 293 million organic TikTok views in 2025; 15,000+ videos in 912 days; 2m+ views on her job tease (and counting).
“Numbers like that don’t happen by accident. But they’re not really why we hired her.
“Ask anyone who’s worked with Lucy and they’ll mention her energy first. That’s the bit you can’t teach.
Perfect timing
“The timing couldn’t be better either. We’ve got a huge few months ahead, and Lucy brings a brilliant mix of creativity, pace and social-first thinking that will add even more strength to an already amazing team as we enter our next phase of growth.
“Best part? She was a SOLSKIN customer long before she was part of the team.
“We’re still a small brand, so having someone like Lucy choose to back what we’re building means a lot.
“I’m super excited to have her joining such a talented team, with everyone bringing their own expertise to where we’re heading next.”
Palmer said: “As a small-town girl with no background or experience in marketing or social media, I never imagined I’d reach a point where my work is considered a benchmark for what employers look for in the industry.
“To me, that’s one of the biggest compliments and achievements I could ever receive.
Alvarez & Marsal appoints former Zeus Capital and boohoo exec
“I’m so proud of how far I’ve come, everything I’ve built and all the times I’ve backed myself, even when I had no idea what I was doing.
“Here’s to showing a few other small-town girls that anything is possible.”
